We collaborated with South Yorkshire Housing Association, to recruit participants into a research project called Working Win looking at the impact that a targeted employment support programme would have on employment of those with long-term health issues. Since the research, the project is being delivered as a service to the people of South Yorkshire.
What we did
Using Primary Care Sheffield’s relationship with practices across the city (we are their city-wide federation) we coordinated local ‘delivery units’ across the whole City at PCN level to provide support for individual GP practices who wanted to be involved. We provided at-scale project management, clinical oversight, coordinated communication between the project group, PCNs and practices, as well as support with admin, finances and contracts.
What was achieved
The overall number of recruits/participants, especially from BAME populations, are significantly higher than in comparable areas which have not used an at-scale approach.

In addition, we have seen much greater recruitment from primary care compared to other sectors and we have seen much higher recruitment overall.
