Steve’s Story
Steve had been taking anti-psychotic and anti-depressant medication for years. While the medication helped, it left Steve feeling “zombified” and caused weight gain. Steve wanted to reduce medication while staying mentally well.
Over five months, Steve worked with a pharmacist and occupational therapist to gradually reduce medication and increase activities. There were some side effects at first, but these settled. Steve began attending planned activities, made new connections, and improved physical health.
Steve’s feedback:
“I can trust health care professionals again. I still have crises, but I’m better able to manage them. My confidence has increased.”
Kiara’s Story
In her sixties, Kiara faced chronic pain, memory issues from a past head injury, and bipolar disorder. Recent changes left her feeling distressed and worried about the future.
For seven months, Kiara worked weekly with a mental health practitioner to understand her history, learn practical memory skills, and build strategies for managing distress. This helped her feel more in control and confident about coping in the future.
Andy’s Story
Andy worked with our occupational therapist, John, in 2024. He shared his experience in this short video:
